“The Joy of Navigating – Tai O Traditional Sampan” Exhibition

The Sustainable Lantau Office has commissioned Tai O Cultural Association to organise the "Joy of Navigating – Tai O Traditional Sampan" Exhibition at Tung Chung Community Liaison Centre. Local Wooden Boat Building Technique has been included in the Intangible Cultural Heritage Inventory of Hong Kong. To promote cultural conservation, the exhibition showcases Tai O traditional sampan in 1:1 scale with exhibition panels and videos to introduce the structure, principle and manufacturing procedures, as well as sharing the past stories of sampan masters and elder fishermen in Tai O.

Visitors can also take this opportunity to appreciate the art piece – "Memories of Tai O" created by the artist, Mr Wong Chi Chuen, which depicted the scenery of the Tai O Creek from 1960 to 1985.
