Improvement and Expansion of Mountain Bike Trail Networks in South Lantau

The development of Mountain Bike Trails (MBTs) in South Lantau is one of the proposals put forward by the Lantau Development Advisory Committee (LanDAC) and initiatives promulgated in both the Sustainable Lantau Blueprint and Lantau Tomorrow Vision.

The improvement and expansion works for the mountain bike trail networks in south Lantau are implemented in three phases. Upon completion of the proposed works, more people can enjoy mountain biking in South Lantau.

Scope of Works

First Phase

  1. Improvement works of the existing Pui O to Kau Ling Chung MBT and Chi Ma Wan MBT; and
  2. Construction of a gathering place at Chi Ma Wan MBT western trailhead.

Second Phase
Construction of:

  1. a practice ground near Lai Chi Yuen Tsuen with supporting facilities;
  2. MBTs from Mui Wo trailhead to the proposed practice ground;
  3. MBTs joining two ends of the existing Chi Ma Wan MBT to form a circular network;
  4. a gathering place near Mui Wo trailhead at Mui Wo Ferry Pier Road;
  5. associated geotechnical, landscape and ancillary works.

Remaining Phase
Construction of:

  1. new MBTs connecting Mui Wo and Pui O; and
  2. associated supporting facilities, geotechnical works, landscape works and ancillary works.

Programme

First Phase
Construction works completed in October 2017.

Second Phase
Constructed mountain bike facilities opened to the public in December 2022.

Remaining Phase
The implementation programme is currently being reviewed.
